Prepared for a proposed flight from Tacoma, Washington, to Tokyo following the Pacific Rim by pilot Bob Wark and copilot Eddie Brown. 100 miles into the flight engine trouble forced it down at Lansdowne Field, Vancouver. A short hop to nearby Ladner Field resulted in the undercarriage being torn off, ending the whole venture. The aircraft is now preserved at the Owls Head Transportation Museum, Maine. Despite marked as a Fokker C.5 on the fin, it is a C.IVA. Photo from: Armstrong Spallumcheen Museum and Arts Society

Jenny Visser-Hooft was a Dutch traveller, mountaineer, and writer. Her husband pictured her before a flight over the volcanoes near Bandung. Aircraft should be FC-417T as this is believed to be the sole NEI army air service C.IV converted to transport, with a T added to the serial. The penguin emblem was used by the service's 3e Afdeling (squadron). In the background is FD-409, a Fokker DC.I two-seat fighter. Photo by: Philips Christiaan Visser / Nationaal Archief (Netherlands)

Prototype of the Fokker DC.I , a variant of the C.IV with a shorter-span upper wing, DC signifying fighter-reconnaissance in the modified German army designation system used by Fokker.
