Prototype Percival Gull in its original form with horn-balanced rudder reminiscent of the Hendy 302. The racing number 50 was from the King's Cup Air Race but as it has started to fade this must be after that event (8-9 July) but before the accident which resulted in it being virtually destroyed. The accident occured in Scotland in late July or early August 1932 and was attributed to magneto failure.

The prototype Percival Gull after it was modified with an unbalanced rudder. This suggests that the photo was taken after the reconstruction, which was performed at Brooklands, and was required after it was almost completely destroyed in an accident in Scotland following its appearence in the 1932 King's Cup Air Race. In that race it retained the Hendy 302-style balanced rudder and wore the racing number 50.

The prototype Percival Gull, G-ABUR, photographed in 1933 either during or practicing for that year's King's Cup Air Race. This was a virtually new airframe, the original having been severely damaged in an accident the previous summer. Photo given to me by Alex Henshaw.
