First flown as G-ASDS and delivered to CAAC in September 1963 as 406. Re-registered B-406 circa 1974 and transferred to the Chinese Air Force as 50258 in April 1983. Withdrawn from use in 1988, transferred to the museum in 1990 and initially displayed as seen here in China United Airlines colours. By 2010 it had been re-painted in Chinese Air Force marks.

One of the very few Western built aircraft to be displayed outside at this magnificent museum.... maybe that is one reason why I enjoyed this place so much! I've seen quite a few Viscounts, etc., in my day but very few Tu-4s, Y-11s, H-5s, etc.

When I last saw this Viscount in 1999, it was painted in China United markings, but it has since been restored with Chinese AF insignia, having served the PLAAF from 1983 to 1988
