Equipped with "gravel kit" for operations on non paved runways. Unbeknown to me at the time is that 25 years later I would fly on this very aircraft (as Canadian North) from Yellowknife to Edmonton. Originally delivered to Nordair in June 1982, it is still active, with Air Inuit, in July 2020.

About to depart from its Yellowknife hub, with the company's three symbols defining the livery: the midnight sun and polar bear on the tail and the northern lights on the rear halve of the fuselage. Behind the large forward cargo door is a load of air freight while the passenges are sitting above and behind the wing root.

Over the landing threshold with a clear view on the elements of the gravel kit that protects the belly, wings and engines on gravel runways. The nose wheels have been fitted with a ski-like deflector. Protruding from the engine nacelles are vortex dissipators that literally blow gravel particles, heading for the inlets, off their path.

Still carrying the original Nordar delivery registration from June 1982, this 737 followed through mergers with CP Air / Pacific Western Airlines (Canadian Airlines) / Air Canada before purchased off lease by Canadian North in 2002. The airliner was registered to First Air in January 2018 with government approval of the proposed Canadian North / First Air merger coming on June 19, 2019.

The variety of traffic at MIA was amazing, in both types of aircraft and number of airlines.
