This L-610 had not been completed by the time the program was cancelled, and so was never assigned a registration. It is now preserved at this tourist attraction in a beautiful part of Slovakia.

After the success of the Let L.410 twin engine turboprop in the late 70s, Aeroflot requested a possible replacement for its An-24 aircraft. However, the collapse of the Soviet Union left the project vulnerable and attempts to 'Westernise' the plane were unsuccessful. Only eight aircraft were built (6 flying and 2 for structural tests). This is the fifth prototype, delivered to the Czech AF to support manufacturer's certification and test flights process and now on display at the Letecké Muzeum Kunovice.

OK-UZB was the third L-610 prototype and was primarily used for stress testing. This photo was taken at the museum's previous location at Olomouc. During the 2015-2016 period, the museum was forced to leave their Olomouc location. Eventually, they re-established themselves at a new location at Koněšín.

Let L-610M demonstrator

In total nine prototypes of the L-610M were produced; six for flight testing, two for static testing and one that was unfinished. X03 underwent trials at VZLÚ (Czech Aerospace Research Centre) but after cancellation of the L-610M program it was used for some L-610G tests. After the definitive end of the L-610, X03 went to the museum at Olomouc but is now on display at Letecké Muzeum Koněšín.

In 1993 the LET company demonstrator was taken on a promotional tour in the colors of the Czech air force. Now it is preserved in the Kunovice museum.

A lucky find for me - preserved in Stare Mesto, near Uherske Hradiste, is the first prototype of the unsuccessful L-610 airliner. It first flew on 28 December 1988.
