This first Mooney M-18 Mite was donated to the Smithsonian in 1981. Flying with the original belt driven Crosley car engine, it later had Lycoming O-145 and Continental A65 engines. The last changes made the aircraft a M-18C and changed the cn to 201. Originally displayed at the Garber storage facility, the aircraft underwent a thorough cleaning and preservation circa 2000 - 05 for display at the Udvar-Hazy Center.
