VH-CMI was one of the first aircraft to be seen in the livery of Jetair. Soon it had built up a fleet of DC-3 and Bristol 170s. It even acquired two Viscounts. But as quickly as it appeared it was gone leaving a mountain of debt.
VH-CMI was originally VH-CMT with Thiess until it was reregistered in 1967 to make way for a new King Air 90. -CMI crashed near Alice Springs on January 20, 1982 when the starboard wing failed as a result of an uncontained engine fire.
