Delivered to the USAAF as C-54D 43-17244 then transferred to the US Navy as R5D-3 56543 in 1945. Redesignated as a C-54Q in 1962. Stored at Davis-Monthan AFB with park code 3C116 in 1973. To TANA as HK-1807 in 1974 then to Aerolineas Medellin in 1979 and Aerovias del Llano in 1983. To Central Air Service as N6816D in 1984 and converted to a firebomber. Stored at Marana Regional by 1994. Still there in 2022.

Back behind DC-7B N4889C was an unexpected find; the rear fuselage of PB4Y-2 N6816D, which crashed and burnt out on the runway at Wenatchee, WA on July 27, 1972. The remains of the aircraft were reportedly bought by Sergio Tomassoni, who was the "T" in T&G Aviation. This aircraft was BuNo 59905 while in service with the US Navy.

Former Central Air Service firebomber 109 has been stored for many years at AVQ. Often incorrectly quoted as c/n 27368.
