Built in 1954 and registered N24R, to N555CB and N575C before becoming G-ASUG with Survey Flights (Northern Ireland) in 1964 and had perspex nose cone fitted. To Loganair in 1968 and retired in March 1975. To Museum of Flight, East Fortune in 1976

More widely known for its operation of Islander aircraft, in 1968 Loganair obtained this single Beech 18 for charter work. In 1969 it inaugurated the airline's only international service, Glasgow-Aberdeen-Stavanger, but passenger loads were poor and it was discontinued in 1970 after 16 months. Withdrawn in March 1975, the aircraft was gifted to the Royal Scottish Museum a year later. Previous identities were N24R, N555CB and N575C and it was first registered in the UK in 1964 to Survey Flights Ltd in Northern Ireland.

Ex Loganair and now belonging to the 'Museum of Flight'. Normally this aircraft would have been in a hangar, but was moved outside to allow stalls to be set up, on this open day. I remember this aircraft when it was flying and to see it again and photograph it was the highlight of my day.

This classic old Beech 18 was operated by Loganair at Glasgow Airport for many years and I remember it very well from the 1970's. It now resides at the East Fortune Museum. (scanned from a Print)

Nice to see the red and black Loganair colours again. The beautiful old Beech is on display at the National Museum of Flight at East Fortune.
