This Spitfire as accepted by the RAF as MA298 in May 1943 and later used for ground instruction as 6462M. In July 1948 the Danish AF gave it the serial FMSm4 and used at Værløse until 1951 for the same purpose. It was then marked for preservation and painted as 41-401, the real 41-401 having been decomissioned in February 1951 and scrapped. It came to Stauning for display in 1998.

Taken on charge by the RAF in May-1943 as MA298. It later became an instructional airframe as 6462M. In Jul-1948 it went to the Danish Air Force as instructional airframe at Værløse with serial FMSm4. In 1951 it went to the Tojhusmuseet in Copenhagen and painted as "41-401". It was also displayed at the Danske Tekniske Museum in Helsingør (noted 1975/76), in store at Værløse (noted 1978), Egeskov Veteranmuseum (noted 1982/85) and Danmarks Flyvemuseum in Billund before going in Jul-1998 to the Dansk Veteranflysamling at Stauning, changing name in Jun-2007 to Danmarks Flymuseum.

The real 41-401 went out of service 26. February 1951 and was scrapped. MA298 was in use as a training object from 1950 till 1953 by the Danish Air Force in Værløse (EKVL).. In 1953 it was restored as "41-401" and spend many years at Tøjhusmuseet in Copenhagen. In 1998 it went to Danmarks Flymuseum where it is today.
