This F-104A 4255 carries MDAP serial 56-0865. It is preserved near the gate (on base) at Hsinchu air base

Lockheed YF-104A 55-2961 was redesignated as an F-104A and delivered via the US Air Force to NACA High Speed Station at Edwards AFB on August 21, 1956. Later registered N818NA, the jet's last flight for NASA was Aug 26, 1975 when it was flown to Andrews AFB and transferred to the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC later that year.

This early Starfighter crashed on 22 August 1957 after engine failure on-take-off from Eglin AFB. The aircraft was struck off charge that same day but was restored for static display and is now inside at the Hill Aerospace Museum.

56-817 was used in the 1960s US TV sitcom "I Dream of Jeannie"

Painted with a false identity, namely that of a Japanese Air Force F-104DJ. The aircraft is in fact the former USAF 56-0826.
