This aircraft was one of the prototype Tornados seen with a display of ordnance at the 1976 Farnborough Airshow. The aircraft was lost over the Irish Sea on 12th June 1979 during simulated weapons release trials. Both crew were killed.

Still operated by BAC and carrying a large amount of stores for demonstration. Note the roundel on the fin made up of the roundels of the three partners in the venture, the UK, Italy and Germany.

This was the first Tornado that I ever saw, the third prototype. It was demonstrated on just one day at the International Air Tattoo 1979. Note the roundel composed of those of the Royal Air Force, the Italian Air Force and the Luftwaffe.
