After almost 25 years, the old girl is essentially complete and free of major corrosion. Since her arrival, the runway has been extended to 4,000 feet. One of only a very few L049 Connies still in existence, this rare bird needs to be rescued and preserved!

The aircraft was never with the USAF and its last civilian registration was N1005C, when it flew for Capitol International Airways. Retired in 1967, it was converted to a cocktail lounge in Penndel, PA. It was disassembled and donated to the AMC Museum in 1997. Its fake military serial number 40315 (54-0315) was assigned to a Northrop F-89H "Scorpion" fighter aircraft.
