Officially struck off charge on 9.5.75, this 'Whale' hung on for over three and a half decades in the Boneyard till taken out for scrap in 5.12

Carrying the seal of the Bureau of the US Navy at NAF Washington, this was one of two Skywarriors modified for VIP use as UA-3B, although here still marked TA-3B. Later to VAQ-33 'GD', stored at AMARC from 7.90 and scrapped 2008

Always an impressive type to see, the A-3 was never common in the UK but this one took a break from its ELINT duties to fly up from VQ-2 at Rota in Spain for the 77 Air Tattoo. Damaged during a carrier launch in 9.87 and retired to AMARC in 11.90. Rear fuselage apparently used to repair another damaged aircraft, 144856

146446 was with USN Squadron VAP-61 at the time of the photo. The apparent white markings on the rear fuselage are mounts for the rocket-assisted take-off boosters being picking out by the sun against the shaded fuselage side. There are six in all, the bottom one in full shadow. 146446 later flew with Thunderbird Aviation and Hughes as N161TB under contract to the Navy. In 2000 it was placed in storage at Davis-Monthan.

Buiult as an A3D-2 Skywarrior and redesignated A-3B in 1962. Converted to EKA-3B multi-role version and served with VAQ-208 squadron.

As a tanker, the Skywarrior soldiered on until 1991.

Built as an A3D-2P in 1960, this RA-3B was used in conjunction with Patriot missile tests from 1978, becoming N571HA. It was stored at Mojave in 1998, and brought to the Castle museum in 2010.
