The coming thing in light aircraft cockpits. The Blue Mountain EFIS/One primary display in this RV-9A can be clearly seen - although the owner reports the Jeppesen navigation database for Australia is very sparse. The avionics and electronic engine controls in this aircraft make for a very complex electrical system.

GFS has used this 1982-model King Air since 27 April 2007 for the turbine twin segment of its airline pilot training courses. Formerly NSW-based, it was first registered in Australia on 8 December 1987. Before that it was N6236U, N8FF & N5FW. This aircraft seems to have replaced King Air C90 VH-LYG which came a gutser at Moorabbin when the nose gear wouldn't come down in August 2006.

Since I last photographed it this Auster, one of the oldest surviving Auster 5s, has been repainted in the colours it wore while attached to two Canadian Spitfire squadrons in Normandy in 1944. It was built as a Taylorcraft Auster 5 for the RAF, being taken on charge in 1943 as NJ667. In September 1944 it was re-allocated to 662 AOP Squadron which, by that time, was in Belgium. It was civilianised in 1947 as G-AJJR but later exported to Australia and registered VH-ABA(2) on 1 August 1951.

The Ceres is an agricultural conversion of the CAC Wirraway advance trainer. This aircraft was built in 1960 and initially registered VH-CEK. However it was almost immediately re-registered in the Super Spread Aviation 'block' as VH-SSY. It had a long career with various subsequent operators, spending time on and off the Register, until donated to the Drage Airworld Museum at Wangaratta in 1985. Currently airworthy and owned by Doug Hamilton.

This old C172 has been re-painted, still in its original Cessna factory colour scheme. And boy it looks good too! It was originally N5827R, but this was probably just a "trade-plate" as it was registered new in Australia on 17 December 1965, operated by the Ballarat Aero Club. Currently based at Tyabb, it's seen here at the Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia's Auster Rally.

Sydney Seaplanes' new million-dollar passenger terminal and cafe at Rose Bay. It's a big improvement on the old fibro shack they used for many years. This building stands on the site of the original 1938 Control Building and passenger terminal, built for the Empire flying boats of the Empire Air Mail Scheme and used until the 1970s. Such history!

This aircraft is a modified version of a VANS RV-8. The aircraft was built in the USA and registered N215RG on 9 June 2009. The owner subsequently moved to Australia and the aircraft was re-registered VH-NZG(3) on 5 March 2013. Interestingly, it carries an RAAF roundel on the port side and an RNZAF roundel on the starboard side. Seen here at the Australia's Biggest Morning Tea Fly-in at Kyneton.

Though far from old, this Sportstar was attending the Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia's Auster Rally. This is a 2005-production aircraft, first registered in Australia as VH-VPH(2) on 16 March 2006 - see my earlier shot of it at the 2007 Avalon airshow. It was transferred to the RAAus Register on 15 May 2007. The eagle-eyed will also note the Whale in the background!
