Built in 1943 as 42-109119 then transferred to the USN as 38351. It was later civilianized and converted to a crop duster and stayed that way until shipped to Canada for restoration in 1982. The Transport Canada data for this home-built aircraft is confusing. They call it a Minicab which is the fixed gear model GY-20, but also GY-30 which is the retractable version. This appears to be a retractable type. (Falconar marketed kits in Canada as the Minicab Hawk.) Also TC give a construction date of 1966 yet it was not registered until July 1982. In 2023 it is based at Portage La Prairie, still registered to the builder C.G.Gowler (hence the c/n).

In 1964 it went to the Força Aérea Portuguesa as 1704 and was abandoned by them in Mozambique during 1974. Derelict air-frame recovered to South Africa in 1992 where it became ZU-ARZ.
