The prototype aircraft that the Boeing 707 and C-135 aircraft were developed from. It spent a number of years in storage at MASDC until 1990 when it was retrieved and restored by Boeing. Finally in 2003 it was flown to Washington for display in the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, part of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.

In the MASDC storage area. VA-305 "Lobos" This aircraft only arrived in storage in Sept 78. Taken on strength in 1968. 1968-69: VA-97 as NK-503. 1969-70: VA-97 as NK-303. 1971: VA-303 as ND-312. 1973: VA-305 as ND-511. later ND-521. 9/1978: Put into storage at the AMARC bone yard with inventory code 6A115. Assigned as a ground trainer to Haineville, IL. Preserved at Great Lakes Training Center, IL. In 1998 preserved at Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Waterford, Rochester, WI.

In the MASDC storage area. Operated by NAF Washington for the Chief of Naval Operations. Arrived in storage 09 Apr 1974 with inventory code 2A098. Also in view 147652 / TR-33 EKA-3B of VAQ-130 which arrived in storage on 02 Apr 1974. 142672 was delivered to the USN in Oct 1959 as an A3D-2Q and became an A3D-2Z (VA-3B) in 1959 for the CNO. To NARF Alameda, CA on 27 Sep 1980 and put back into service with VAQ-33 and later VQ-1. She crashed into the Pacific 125 miles NNW of Guam while with VQ-1 on 23 Jan 1985 killing 9 onboard.

Originally allocated USAF serial 53-5243 for administrative purposes. Built as a TV-2 for the US Navy BuNo 137936 and redesignated to a T-33B in 1962. Arrived at MASDC from storage at NAF Litchfield Park, AZ on 13 Jul 1965 and departed back to service on 15 Nov 1967. Back to MASDC with inventory code 3T310 on 26 Jun 1975 and in this photo it looks like it is being prepared to depart. Later noted at the Pueblo Weisbrod Museum, CO. To the Quonset Air Museum in May 2007 and last noted there dismantled in Sep 2013.

In the markings of VP-92 'Minutemen' based at NAS South Weymouth, MA. VP-92 was a USN reserve squadron which was finally disestablished on 17 October 2007 while flying the P-3 Orion. 1335572 was accepted into the USN at Burbank on 25 Feb 1955. Arrived in storage at MASDC on 07 May 1971 and allocated inventory number 1P295. SOC 29 Jun 1976 and presumably later scrapped.

Last operated by the 102nd Fighter Interceptor Squadron/106th Fighter Interceptor Group, Suffolk County Airport, NY. Arrived for storage at MADC on 24 Sep 1974 and allocated inventory number FJ326. Departed on 31 Jul 1979 to Sperry Flight Systems, Litchfield Park, AZ. Converted to QF-102A. To ADWC, Tyndall AFB, FL. Converted to PQM-102B no 748.

In the markings of the 157th Fighter Interceptor Squadron/169th Fighter Interceptor Group, McEntire AFB, SC. Arrived in storage with inventory code FJ352 on 28 Jan 1975. In this photo the aircraft is being prepared to leave and departed on 26 Oct 1978 to Sperry at Litchfield Park, AZ for conversion to a QF-102A target drone. Shot down over the White Sands Test Range in a missile test flight from Holloman AFB, NM on 03 Aug 1981.

In the MASDC storage area. Arrived for storage on 01 Oct 1974 from the 176th FIS - 115th FIG - Wisconsin Air National Guard based at Truax Field, Madison, WI. Received inventory code FJ334. Departed on 08 Mar 1979 to Sperry Flight Systems, Litchfield Park, AZ. and converted to a QF-102A. Later To ADWC, Tyndall AFB, FL. and converted to a PQM-102B no 728. Shot down on 09 Jan 1981 over the Gulf of Mexico during a missile test flight from Tyndall AFB, FL.

Arrived just three days prior on 11 Oct 1978 at MASDC for storage. Inventory code FE406 allocated. From the 110 TFS - 131st TFW - Missouri Air National Guard based at St Louis-Lambert IAP, MO. Departed on 13 May 1987 to Tracor Flight Systems Inc, Mojave, CA and converted to a QF-100D drone no 288. Shot down on 08 Jul 1991.

Recently arrived at MASDC for storage and allocated inventory code FF379. Only arrived a few days before on 02 Oct 1978 from the 153rd TRS - 186th TRG - Mississippi Air National Guard based at Key Field, Meridian, MS. Departed on 20 Jul 1984 to Allied Aircraft Sales of Tucson, AZ and scrapped.

In the MASDC storage area. Arrived in storage on 26 Jun 1974. Inventory code BC211. Later scrapped. Used by AFFTC as NB-52E Control Configured Vehicle operated by the Air Force Flight Dynamics Laboratory to test ride comfort improvements during turbulent flight conditions. info from Joe Baugher's excellent website. In the storage area at MASDC. VR-52 "Taskmasters" Delivered to the US Navy on 28 Oct 1952. Transferred to the USAF as 51-17630 in 1958. Returned to the USN as 131571 in 1964. Arrived in storage at MASDC on 11 Jan 1978. Inventory code allocated 8C0020, later CG0100. Registered to N751CE on 16 Jan 1991. To Everts Air Fuel Inc at Fairbanks AK 30 Dec 2008. Reregistered to N528ZE 14. Nov 2014. Registration still current in Dec 2023.

In the storage area at MASDC. VF-111 "Sundowners" last assigned to the USS Roosevelt. By October 1978 this squadron had just fully transitioned to the F-14A Tomcat. The squadron was disestablished on 31 March 1995. Also in the picture is 151510 / NM-204 c/n 700 which arrived in storage on 29 Sep 1977. 153012 was delivered @1967 as a F-4B. Later upgraded to a F-4N. To MASDC also on 29 Sep 1977 with inventory code 8F061. Later to Hayes Industries and put back into service (see photo 630414). Back to MASDC on 25 Jan 1984 with inventory code 8F-150. Departed 20 Sep 2004 to HVF West for scrapping

In the storage area at MASDC. Formerly with US Army Depot Corpus Christi. Built for the USAAF as a C-47B 43-49417 and allocated to the US Navy as Bu No 50806 in Dec 1944. To the US Army by May 1967. To MASDC for storage on 09 Dec 1974. To Allied Aircraft, Tucson AZ on 26 Dec 1978 for scrapping. Also in picture is former South Vietnamese Air Force C-47D 43-48058.

The right hand aircraft on the arrivals ramp for MASDC. 93rd TFS - 915th TFG - AFRES. Behind are EC-121T Warning Star's 55-0118 and 55-0122. All 3 arrived between 10 and 13 Oct 1978.

In the MASDC storage area. VMR-234 "Bears". Arrived for storage on 19 Mar 1975 with inventory code 4C0026. To Dross Metals, Tucson, AZ on 02 Oct 1980 and entered the civil register as N7051U. Preserved at MCAS El Toro. Noted outside the PBX in Oct 2002. Civil registration cancelled 10 Jul 2013.

In the storage area at MASDC. Delivered to the USN as a F8U-2NE and redesignated to a F-8E in 1962. Later upgraded to a F-8J. Arrived for storage on 05 Nov 1975 with inventory code 2F333. Salvaged as NAS North Island, CA in May 1987. 150890 was last assigned to VF-211 "Fighting Checkmates" which was based on CVA-19 USS Hancock which was decommissioned in 1976. The squadron is still operational in Dec 2023 as VFA-211 on F/A-18E Super Hornets.

In the storage area at MASDC. Delivered as a F8U-2 and redesignated to a F-8C in 1962. Later upgraded to a F-8K. Arrived for storage on 11 Sep 1973 with inventory code 2F257. To the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, Socorro, NM on 18 Jul 1986. VF-302 "Stallions" was a naval reserve squadron and was disestablished on 11 September 1994 while flying the F-14 Tomcat. The tail markings are in black and yellow.

In the storage area at MASDC. VMF-321 'Hell's Angels' based at Andrews NAS, MD. Also known as the 'Black Barons' for a short period. VMF-321 were a marine reserve squadron and stood down on 11 Sep 2004 while operating the F/A-18 Hornet. To the US Navy as a F8U-2 redesignated to a F-8C in 1962 and later upgraded to a F-8K. Arrived for storage on 29 Oct 1973 with inventory code 2F274. To the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, Socorro, NM on 08 Oct 1985.

In the storage area at MASDC. VMF-351 was a marine reserve squadron and was decommissioned in 1975. Delivered as a F8U-2 and redesignated to a F-8C in 1962. Later upgraded to a F-8K. Arrived for storage on 09 Sep 1971 with inventory code 2F248. SOC on 12 Mar 1975. To the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, Socorro, NM on Jul 17 1986.
