Preserved wearing the markings of the 94 Fighter Squadron, 12th Air Force, Korean War.

This Shooting Star was built at Burbank as a P-80C-1-LO and delivered to the USAF as 47-1397 but subsequently transferred to the Navy with BuNo 33850 as a TO-1 (redesignated TV-1 in 1950). Now preserved as a gate guard at Merced but in these ficticious USAF markings.

This F-80C is one of the few remaining Shooting Stars that flew combat missions during the Korean War. Restored and painted as it was in 1950 while assigned to the 8th Fighter-Bomber Group and now on display at the National Museum of the USAF in 1979.

The P-80 was developed in an astounding 143 days and was the first jet fighter to be used by the USAF. However the lack of a swept wing meant it was rapidly switched to ground attack and air-to-air missions. TO-1 was the initial Navy designation for the P-80C, of which 16 were delivered to the Marines. In 1950 it was redesignated to TV-1. This example has completed her restoration and is now on display at the Carolinas Aviation Museum.

Procured by USAF as 48-0377. Transferred to USN/Marines in 1948 as 33866. Redesignated TV-1 in 1950. Seen under overhaul at the Planes of Fame Museum at its early Ontario location. Now preserved at Charlotte.

This Shooting Star was assigned to the 36th Fighter Group at Fürstenfeldbruck, Germany, in 1949, and it is painted as an aircraft of the Group's 23rd FS.
