The rear fuselage and tail, showing the yellowed 41°Stormo emblem, the code applied (last operational one may have been AS-6) and how the original BuNo was adopted as Matricula Militare. The small tail strut and wheel that would prevent the empannage from hitting the deck for carrier-landing S-2s can also just be seen.

Although somewhat compromising the exhibition of the aircraft, the way this Tracker is parked actually highly resembles how it would be done below deck on an aircraft carrier! The Italian S-2s operated from land though, and this was one of six delivered to the AMI (on behalf of the Marina Militare) at Napoli in 1957.

This Tracker, which still carries its former US Navy serial 136681 under the tail plane, was returned to the US Navy in 1977 and stored at Atsugi Air Base, Japan. It was one of eleven ex-Japanese Trackers sold to Native Alaskan Reclamation and Pest Control (Lester Risley) on 27 January 1978, to be converted to airtankers. Registration N217AK was reserved for this aircraft, but in the end Mr. Risley was unable to complete the deal and none of the aircraft ever left Japan. Instead, all eleven were repossessed by the US Navy on 23 January 1979 and ten were subsequently broken up for scrap. The eleventh Tracker (ex 4108) went to South Korea for display at the War Memorial of Korea in Seoul.

Built for US Navy as S2F-1 Tracker for supply to the Japan Maritime Self Defence Force with serial 4127. On retirement, recovered to Hemet CA for possible conversion to tanker/sprayer, but this was not actually carried out.
