I finally get to meet Olivia. A Viking masterpiece. Viking Air of Victoria, British Columbia acquired this Beaver in 2005 after it had been in the Pima Air and Space Museum in a non-flyable state. It had a fictitious reg of C-KMMS on it at the time. The Beaver was dismantled and brought to Victoria for a complete rebuild and conversion to Turbine engine and registered as C-GODH and named "Olivia" after the actress Olivia de Havilland.

Another magnificent rebuild to Turbo Beaver by Viking in Victoria. This Beaver was previously C-FPSM as a piston Beaver.

Beautiful aeroplanes to be found where ever one goes in the US! Note the resurfacing of the RNT runway going on in the background. This somewhat spoiled my visit a little as no new Boeings were flying.

Not an aircraft type I see normally everyday so I was very happy when it appeared on very short final.

This Beaver was built as a standard piston engine DHC-2 in 1959. After several accidents in the 1980s, Viking Air bought the aircraft. Viking, who own the type certificates of all De Havilland Canada aircraft except the Dash 8, converted it to a turbo Beaver during 1993 - 1996. Bought by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 2006, it was painted in these retro colors for the 70th anniversary of the RCMP Air Division in 2007. It was sold in 2016.
