A rare and interesting visit of this Boeing C-17A Globemaster III, of the RAF at the Tenerife Sur airport, coming from Brize Norton and continuing to Dakar.

Pictured during the Tactical Leadership Programme at Florennes. The Harrier GR7 made its first flight on 3 Oct'89 and was delivered to the RAF on 24 Oct'89. It was converted to GR9 in 2006 and was withdrawn from use in Apr'10. It became an instructional airframe (weapons loading trainer) at Cottesmore by Jul'10. In December is was fully retired and stored at the base. It was sold to the US Marine Corps by early '12 and placed in storage at AMARG where has been since Apr'12.

Pictured during the Tactical Leadership Programme at Florennes. This Harrier made its first flight as a GR5 on 6 Jul'88 and was delivered to the RAF on 22 Aug'88. It modified to GR7 and was involved in an accident on 24 Jul'03 when it crashed into hangar wall at RAF Wittering. Its nose section was damaged but the Harrier was repaired and returned to service late '03. It was modified to GR9 in Jul'08 and to GR9A by '10. The Harrier was withdrawn from use in Dec'10, stored at RAF Cottesmore and sold to the US Marine Corps by early '12. It was placed in storage at AMARG where it is since apr'12.

An RAF greeting to (Dame) Ellen MacArthur over the South Atlantic. In 2005 she visited the Falkland Islands on her solo sail around the world. Photo taken (not by me) from another F3 shows my eldest son flying ZE291 VW with the Trimaran 'B&Q CASTORAMA' making good headway.
