My best result aviation-wise in Majorca this summer was this Canadair on stand-by at Pollenca. Couldn't get as near as I expected because the adjacent beach area is closed off for forces families only, but fortunately fine at 400mm as no heat-haze across the water

Most of the helicopters in this hangar are too tight for a proper photo but fortunately this beautifully presented Whirlwind is well positioned at the end of the row. Four of these Westland-built machines were flown alongside about 20 Sikorsky H-19s with the Air Force and Navy

The real C.8-15 was passed to the Turkish AF after Spanish service. Looking quite convincing, this one is really WGAF 26+23 (built by SABCA) and is marked as such on the other side

The Albatross which forms part of the superb outdoor collection at the Museo del Aire has recently been moved into a slightly better position for photos, possibly as a result of the Do 24 going indoors for restoration. Still carrying the former US serial, she served Esc 55/801 in the SAR role from Son San Joan airbase, Palma de Majorca. A total of 28 HU-16s were operated by the Spanish from 1954 to 1978

First registered in 1937 as G-AERN and operated post-war by BEA amongst others, this Rapide was exported to Spain in 1954 to become EC-AKO. Restored from 2003, apparently to represent one of three armed DH.89Ms flown by the Spanish AF on policing duties in Morocco pre-war
