Slide taken when Chanute AFB was still active. This a/c was last used by the PMTC. It was retired to MASDC, then flown to Chanute in 1983. After the base closed it became part of the Octave Chanute Air Museum collection. When the museum closed in 2015 it was transferred to the Yankee Air Museum in Michigan, where it is undergoing restoration.

Flown to the museum in 1973 from NAS Glynco, GA. There it was assigned to VT-86 and used to train flight crew for assignment to early warning aircraft squadrons. The a/c is currently on display in the outside flight line area. It is now in the markings of a Weather Reconnaissance Squadron 4 a/c.

Four years to the month after I took this slide 141292 made the last operational flight of a USN Constellation. The flight was from NAS Key West to the Florence Air Museum in South Carolina. As the museum was next to the airport it was arranged for the a/c to taxi from the closest taxiway across a grass area to the prearranged display spot. The Connie made it part of the way but eventually bogged down. There it sat until the museum closed in October 1997.

The Blue Angels operated this C-121J from 1968 through the end of the 1970 season when it was replaced by a C-130. At some point after I took this slide the paint scheme was changed with the top of the fuselage being painted white. Looks like the yellow paint is peeling off of the number 8 on the vertical fin and rudder.
