This ex USAF F-4E (77-1759) was delivered to Greece on 20 December 1978. The F-4 was pictured here when assigned to 338 MPK at Andravida. The Phantom was modified to F-4E Avionics Upgrade Program (AUP). The AUP resulted into an increase in the combat effectiveness of the Phantom and was dubbed "Peace Icarus". The mods included new databus', a powerfull radar, mission computer, fire control and armament control system (supporting AMRAAM), navigation system with embedded GPS and INS, communication, TACAN, IFF, radar altimeter, and data transfer. 35 Greek F-4s were modified as such.

It saw later service with 337 MPK and was stored at Nea Anchialos from November 2006 and eventually preserved at this base from November 2012. Strikingly, after two years of service (when this picture was made) the USAF roundel is still scratched away.
