Last flight of the day for ODH is over. In Dec 2000, this Otter was carrying a prisoner escorted by a deputy sheriff. The prisoner somehow was able to open the door and jump to his death into the ocean at Hecate Strait from 1500 meters. The deputy sheriff apparently suffered a nervous breakdown following the incident.

As I watched IUZ taxi out for departure I was wondering if the passengers or even the pilot knew that 40 years ago it was stranded on a frozen lake in minus 40 degree temps in Canada's Arctic when it was servicing a DEW line station.
