Built by Armstrong Whitworth at Baginton, Coventry, in March 1955. Served aboard HMS Eagle with 897 Squadron. Seen on the airfield gate at RNAS Brawdy wearing incorrect serial XF340 and 'Ace of Spades' markings.

This aircraft was operated and maintained in taxyable condition with the Aircraft Maintenance Instruction Flight at RAF Cranwell. Carrying an RAF black training livery this example bears the Saint markings of 16 Squadron which is actually a Grob Tutor training squadron based in the adjacent hangars. The squadron got the nickname of the Saints after it was formed at St Omer in 1915. This unit and its aircraft have since been moved to RAF Cosford

Originally delivered to the RAF College at Cranwell in January 1952, and soldiering on with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight for taildragger training.

Operated at RAF Coltishall from 1967 to 1969 for Saudi pilot training, the T.55 was basically a two-seat F.6 with ground attack capabilities. Returned to BAe at Warton in 1.86 as ZF598 as part of trade-in for the Saudi Tornado deal
