Rebuilt as R4D-8 99857 from c/n 33367 in 1952. Redesignated as a C-117D in 1962. Stored at Davis-Monthan AFB with park code 6C044 in 1977. Registered as N456WL in 1985 then N99857 in 1989. To Trans Northern in 2009 and reregistered as N27TN in 2010. Used for parts at Wasilla, AK.

VH-MRD served with the Australian navy from 1953 to 1963. It had an RAAF serial - the A11 prefix was applied to the RAAF's wartime Taylorcaft Austers - throughout its navy career. -MRD was civil registered in December 1963 and withdrawn from use in 2015. By then it had been transformed into the Beach Hawk, a 200hp Lycoming-powered two-seater which retained only the wings, tailplane and general configuration of the original aircraft. It is considered to be a new type, in the amateur built category, and has the MSN 1.
