One of my favourite Convair shots recalling the days when Aspen ran a smart fleet of multi-coloured 580's (plus for me a nice flight to Colorado Springs on one). Also visible behind is one of their new 146's. This 580, acquired from Allegheny in 10.78 went to Kelowna as C-GKFU in 1.92 then Air Freight NZ as ZK-KFU in 4.95 but sadly crashed at sea off New Zealand on 3.10.03

First delivered to Sabena as a Convair 440 in 1956; bought by Frontier in 9.67 and placed in service following the turboprop conversion. After a period of storage, bought by Sierra Pacific in 3.88 and leased to Aspen 12.88. On 19.1.89 the no. 2 engine failed at FL200 outbound from DEN. No. 1 engine then also failed and the aircraft landed on a dirt road at Buena Vista, hitting a fence and a log pile causing the nosegear to collapse. No fatalities but dbr

Delivered to Frontier six years before this shot and to Continental in 11.86. Flown as N583CC with the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team in a 38-seat VIP config from 2006 but de-registered by 2011

Delivered new to Frontier in December 1969, serving until sold to Continental in October 1986.

This smart 1959-built Commander 680E heads a neat line-up of ten varying Commander models at Denver's old Stapleton Airport.

Delivered new to United Airlines in April 1958. Sold in May 1964. Operated by Ports of Call from May 1967 until March 1975 based at Denver Stapleton.

Delivered to UAL in January 1962. Retired and stored at Denver Stapleton by April 1971. Sold to Sterling Airways as OY-SAJ in February 1972. Broken up in August 1977.

Originally Pan Am's N319PA in 1966, Ports of Call bought this 727 15 years later. In 1986 the travel club was renamed Skyworld but not for long as it reverted to PoC in 1988, only for the operation to cease a year later. The 727 went to SAM at the end of 1987 as HK-3396X and was placed in store at Sheldon, WA in 7.95 as N91392 but was b/u by 12.98

Delivered to Varig as PP-VJF in 3.63 and to Modern Air as N5625 in 7.71. Bought by PoC in 6.75 and wfu about a year before this photo. Finally broken up 7.98

Bought new in 12.78 by Rocky Mountain, which was merged into Continental Express in 9.90. Wfu at Amarillo, TX in 3.95 and later broken up
