Fred Seggie and I popped in to Warton on the way down to Fairford and were rewarded with some interesting aeroplanes. Thanks to all the friendly Warton spotters present for passing a really enjoyable couple of hours with us.

We (Fred Seggie and I) popped in to Warton on the way down to Fairford and were rewarded with some interesting aeroplanes.

The prototype TSR-2 first flew on 27 September 1964. It made 24 test flights with a total time of 13 hours 9 minutes, the last being on 31 March 1965. I had seen it take off for a test flight on 8 March leaving a vivid trail of shock diamonds in its wake. 11 June 1966 was the only public viewing of the aircraft which left by road for destructive tests at Shoeburyness soon afterwards. This was the only example of the type to become airborne.
