Cavok Air suffered a birdstrike on the left engine during the take off run on 29 July 2017. The take off was aborted after V1 at a speed of 220 km/h and the aircraft was unable to stop, and dropped of the end of runway 29. A detailed summary of the crash can be found on the Aviation Safety Network website. Now 7 years later the airplane still remains on the ground at Sao Tome. From this angle the ripped of cockpit and left outer wing can clearly be seen.

This B737 Max-8 was originally delivered to Chinese airline OKAir in 2018. But after only 4 months of flying it was stored at Tjianjin. The Max was grounded worldwide after two crashes and OKAir returned both their Max to leasing company AerCap. They remained on the ground in China until both were leased to Asky in 2023. ASECNA, The Agency for Aerial Navigation Safety in Africa and Madagascar (L'Agence pour la Sécurité de la Navigation aérienne en Afrique et à Madagascar) is an air traffic control agency based in Dakar, Senegal. They provide Air Traffic Control services, both local and area, in 18 African countries, covering 15 million square kilometers of airspace. They use this Sovereign for calibration flights for landing and navigational aids. Even though the nation of Sao Tome and Principe is not covered by ASECNA, their Ce680 6V-CEV visited the islands to calibrate the navigation beacons on both islands.
