The Camair Twin Navion was not a particularly successfull attempt to improve upon the well-liked, but slightly under-powered, Ryan navion. In the end only 33 examples were produced with this one on display at the super mid-Atlantic Air Museum.

Isn't this *almost* like one of those old shots from the 50s & 60s? A classic prop on the ramp, baggage carts and service vehicles in attendance, passenger stairs and a small terminal building in the background. OK, so my geeky aeroplane imagination has run a bit wild but, nevertheless, this was a fantastic day out at this museum.

This Avenger served with both United States Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy as 53638. After a demob career as a sprayer/tanker in Canada it was acquired by the super Mid-Atlantic Air Museum at Spaatz Field.

After testing this CCW-5, now on display as part of the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum, the conclusion was reached that the advantage in lift and field length performance achieved by the channel wing did not offset the layout's many deficiencies resulting from the increased drag profile and weight penalties.
