This was the prototype Lodestar and was converted from Model 14 c/n1404 and delivered to Continental Air Lines in June 1940. Since then it had been registered as VP-TAE, G-AJAW, SE-BTL and CX-AVH. At this date it was registered to one David Lemmelman and was cancelled on export to Argentina in 1964.

Here in use as a flying test bed for Pratt and Whitney YT34-P-5 turboprops. Retired to MASDC in 1964 with powerplant related components being used on Super Guppy N1038V.

VH-FDA was part of a display of Hawker de Havilland products at the air show. At the time it was the test aircraft for the Lycoming conversion of the previously Gipsy-engined aircraft.
