Most active Australian Moths were impressed into the RAAF at the start of World War II but not VH-UIF. It may have been in poor condition because its CoA lapsed in 1941 and it was kept in storage. Erroneously called the Curtiss-Ireland Meteor on account of its predecessor, the Comet, using Curtiss Oriole fuselages. Power is a Curtiss OX-5 V8.
