A very pretty airplane on a very pretty Sunday morning in Seattle

After a protracted battle with Canadian officials, the Museum of Flight was finally granted permission to move their Super Connie from Toronto to the US. The aircraft arrived at the Empire Aero Center facility in Elmira, New York on June 7, 2007. It arrived on a convoy of flatbed trucks and was restored in Trans Canada Airlines colors as CF-TGE. It is on display at the museum in Seattle, Washington in 2018.

The folks at Empire Aero Center rolled the Super Connie back into the hangar the morning of my visit and were installing the tail section. Aircraft on display in 2018 at the Museum of Flight in Trans Canada Airlines colors as CF-TGE.

The aircraft arrived at the Empire Air Service facility on June 7, 2007 on a convoy of flatbed trucks. Aircraft currently on display as CF-TGE at the Museum of Flight in Seattle, Washington in period Trans Canada Air Lines colors.

Built in 1928 by the Swallow Airplane Manufacturing Company in Wichita KS. Initially fitted with a Wright J-5 and designated Swallow J-5. Originally operated by UAL on US Air Mail Route CAM.5 from Chicago to Minneapolis. Later fitted with a Continental R-670 with which it is still (2018) registered as airworthy by the Museum of Flight Foundation.

Acquired by the Museum of Flight from the Pacific Northwest Aviation Historical Foundation the year before, and seen here tucked at the back of the hangar, quietly undergoing a 13 year restoration.

Prototype F-5 (N-156F). When first displayed at the Museum of Flight had a USAF serial but otherwise in Northrop markings.
