Valmet developed all-metal Vihuri at the beginning of the 1950s to substitute VL Pyry advanced trainers. A total of 51 Vihuris were produced 1951-1957. It was the main advanced trainer and the most flown type during the 1950s. It was involved in a number of accidents. That led to a press campaign which quickened its withdrawal from service in 1959. Most of the Vihuris were scrapped in 1960. The cabin part of the VH-25 was found from a scrap yard in Helsinki at the beginning of the 1970s. Wäinö Bremer acquired OH-ABB in 1931 and in same year Bremer made an European tour by visiting in 11 countries. Next year he flew to Cape Town and back. In 1933 he made a journey around the world by OH-ABB. He and OH-ABB crossed the Pasific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean by ship. Bremer used OH-ABB until end of the 1950s. After that the aircraft was sold to Denmark and from Denmark to Sweden. In 1967 the aircraft was acquired back to Finland. Mr. Carl Stude designed and Polyteknikkojen Ilmailukerho built the first motor glider in Finland. The basis of the project was Grunau Baby II glider OH-BAB. The PIK-10 flew first time in 1949. The aircraft was owned by seven owners during the next 20 years. The Korso Flying Club with the help of the Finnair Flying Club restored it in 1969. Before that the aircraft has got the wings of another Grunau Baby (OH-BAF). It had the nickname "Paukkulauta" ("Bang Board") . The Finnish Air Force purchased nine two-seat de Havilland D.H.115 Vampire Trainer Mk.55 jet trainers in 1955. The aircraft type was the first jet trainer in Finland as well as the first aircraft type equipped with ejection seats. The young engineers of the State Aircraft Factory started the design work of VL Tuisku as a hobby. The Defence Ministry ordered the prototype 1933. The prototype took air first time 1934 but destroyed same year in dive test due to aeroelastic flutter. A new prototype delivered 1935. The VL Tuisku II was proven successful and the State Aircraft Factory build 28 VL Tuisku IIs. The aircraft were delivered 1936-1937 and was used as a versatile trainer until 1950. In 1927, the Finnish air force bought one copy of Gloster Gamecock's for test tests, which resulted in the acquisition of a production license. State aircraft factory (Valtion Lentokonetehdas, VL) produced these aircraft under the name "Kukko". Until 1930 was built 15 machines. The aircraft served until 1944 and was used also in Winter War (Suomen talvisota) and WW II as scouts. The wreck of GA-58 is the only one remained Gloster Gamecock in the World. The Finnish Air Force bought the aircraft in 1929 and ordered nine more. Later the State Aircraft Factory (Valtion lentokonetehdas, VL) built under licence 29 Letov S.218s in three lots. The aircraft were delivered 1933-1936. The Finnish Air Force used S.218 as a trainer until 1945. Six S.218 were solt to civilian use. The last civilian one was in use until 1957.
