This Gipsy Moth was registered new in Australia on 5 July 1929. In 1940 it was impressed into RAAF service as A7-79 until 1944. A rare survivor, the aircraft was restored and returned to the civil Register in May 1954, but withdrawn from use just four years later in June 1958. The aircraft was donated to the Moorabbin Air Museum in 1965, the first complete aircraft in the collection.
