Built in 1983 and operated initially by MAP Kazan APO in Aeroflot colours. Noted at IEV in July 2007 as UR-CFX for Greek company Asterias in basic KAPO colours. Seen at Gostomel in 2010 and again in 2013, by then with South Supreme Airlines in a white c/s. Noted at Jubba, capital of South Sudan, with that company in May 2014 registered EK-26310. By 2017 renamed South Sudan Supreme Airlines and registered S9-TLK, changed that year to TR-KNG (illegal). Seen at Jubba in December 2021 with 'HK-4' stickered over first part of reg to read 'HK-4NG'

First with the Soviet AF as "61 red" in 1970, to KAPO in 1993 and transferred to Airstars in 2000. КАПО stands for Казанское Авиационное Производственное Объединение (Kazan Aviation Production Association), and "им. С. П. Горбунова" means "named after S.P. Gorbunov". This refers to Sergei Petrovich Gorbunov, an important figure in the Soviet aviation industry in the early 1930s.

After the very rarely-seen 'Magma' red livery, this was the paint-job applied by the Kazan factory airline KAPO. A couple of years later it changed again, to a white tail...

One of the last Il-62s to emerge from the line at Kazan, completed in 1995 but remaining at the factory unsold. Eventually appeared in this short-lived livery a few months before the photo, but repainted into a pure KAPO (Kazan Aircraft Production Organisation) scheme in May 2000; see later shots in two different versions of this factory operator's markings. Seen here in KAPO S.P.Gorbunova's final markings, the aircraft passed to BGB Airlines at the end of 2006, then becoming UN-86586 next year with Sayat Air; reg changed to UP-I6205 and leased to Aria Air in Iran (still in the basic colours seen here) at the beginning of 2009
