Eastern Airlines DC-7 N836D was the first aircraft for Nomads Travel Club (1965 - 71) until replaced by a Lockheed Electra. It was bought by St. Paul Minnesota native Joe Kocour in 1972 to start Twentieth Century Traverl Club. The club never got off the ground, but the aircraft was well looked after for 32 years until sold 2003. Months of work allowed it to be ferried to Opa-locka Airport for major restoration, emerging in Eastern Airlines livery during 2008. After an engine failure leaving Charlotte, NC in 2011, the aircraft has been stored under the care of the Carolinas Aviation Museum.

Delivered to the US Navy in 1957. Registered N614NA in 1982 with the NASA Lewis Research Centre, Cleveland, OH. and by 1985 was based in Minneapolis flying with the US Navy Recruiting Command. Retired to AMARC at Davis Monthan in August 1987, registered as N234WP in November 1997 and subsequently flown by several US Air Force base flying clubs.

Built in 1972 and operated by the Minneapolis based 3M Co (Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing Co) from 1972 - 1992. Later to N6060, N711TE and N754JB and scrapped at Fort Lauderdale Executive in 2010. The registration had previously been used on the companies Lockheed Learstar and Jetstar and was later used on their Gulfstream 1V, Gulfstream V and IAI Gulfstream 280.

The HU-1A Iroquois was the initial production version of this iconic transport helicopter for the US Army. It already had the more commonly used "Huey" moniker before the designation was changed to UH-1 in 1962. This early aircraft is possibly marked for preservation some day.

In 1965 Lockheed and Sikorsky Aircraft won the Project Definition Phase of the US Army Advanced Aerial Fire Support System . Lockheed was chosen the following year to produce 10 prototypes of their compound helicopter with a rigid rotor. This was the number 6 aircraft that did weapons trials at the Yuma Proving Grounds in Arizona. It was also the only Cheyenne painted in this variegated camouflage scheme. The helicopter is presently on display at Fort Campbell, KY.

Entering this passenger cabin was like stepping back in time 50 years with it's original Eastern Air Lines interior!

This DC-7B had been parked at St Paul since the early 1970's. Restored by Carlos Gomez in 2010 and painted in period EAL colors. The aircraft's first post restoration flight was in July 2010 and the aircraft was flown on the airshow circuit until it experienced an engine failure taking off from Charlotte, North Carolina on November 18, 2011. It has remained grounded and parked at the Carolinas Aviation Museum since then. Uploaded with permission Bill Hirsch.

No fancy glass cockpit!

Legendary Airliners, LLC was formed by Carlos Gomez and Marc Wolff of Miami, FL to restore this aircraft and other vintage airliners. It was the only DC-7 with its original passenger interior intact!

Owned by Legendary Airliners.

This aircraft had already been in open storage for several years when I saw it and it seemed likely to be destined for the scrapheap. However it flew again in 2004

Very small Legendary Airliners titles and the famous Eastern Air Lines "Duckhawk" have been painted on the nose of this DC-7.

Getting some TLC after almost 33 years on the ground at Holman Field. Has extremely small Legendary Airliners titles on the nose.

This castle-like building served as the headquarters of Northwest Airlines during the 1930's and 40's. The vintage control tower must have been very cold during the long Minnesota winter nights
