On 30 July 1914 Tryggve Gran became the first to cross the North Sea when he flew from Cruden Bay in Scotland to Jæren on the southwest coast of Norway in this Blériot XI which was named Ça Flotte. The 470km long flight lasted 4 hours 10 minutes. The aircraft was subsequently bought by the Norwegian Ministry of Defence, renamed Nordsjøen (North Sea) and taken on charge by the Norwegian Army with a roundel incorporating the Norwegian flag added to the wings.

Whether this aircraft was operational or not in June 1992 is unknown, but it did taxi under its own steam, with turning engine and propellor, to the static park for the airshow. This picture was taken just after shut down.
