On display at the Luftwaffenmuseum. The DFS-230 glider mostly equipped LLG1 and was used by Fallschirmjäger to assault Fort Ében-Émael, in the Battle of Crete, the rescue of Mussolini and in the SS assault on Marshal Tito's HQ. Nine troops with equipment could be carried aboard. It was used to resupply the Afrika Korps and the Sixth Army encircled at Stalingrad in the failed airlift, without success due to weather conditions and vulnerable to Soviet AA defences. This replica wears the emblem of Schleppgruppe 2. It was also used by several LS Kdo. Over 1,500 of these assault gliders were built.

First flying in 1937 this was a glider capable of carrying ten troops and over 1000 were built. They were used extensively in WW II particularly in North Africa and in the invasion of Crete. The example seen here is a replica built using many original parts and is displayed in this diorama as a part of the Luftwaffe Museum.
