K25 slide scan. Built 1958 as DC-6B N93122 for Western Airlines. Returned to Douglas 1965 and converted to DC-6A, delivered to Fuerza Aerea de Chile 1966 as 986. Struck off charge and sold to Atlas Aircraft Corp 1982. Conair C-GKUG 1982 as Tanker 50, retired Abbotsford 2012. Everts Air Cargo N501XP 2013 and ferried to Fairbanks 2014 for spares use. Reregistered N251CE 2015 remaining static. Still present 2022.

Former Conair Tanker #50 C-GKUG was one of three former Conair tankers ferried from Abbotsford, BC to Fairbanks in late 2013. Stored at Everts' North Hangar in basic Conair colors.

G-GKUG was in Australia to test the effectiveness of large air tankers.

A veteran of many firefighting campaigns protecting the forests of British Columbia. Will this be its last fire season?

C-GKUG demonstrating the advantages of large air tankers to Australian forest fire authorities in 1984. At the time there was a lot of resistance to heavy tankers, the preference being swarms of cropdusters and helicopters. However large tankers, up to DC-10 size, are now part of the air assets assembled for annual fire season. They are chartered from US and Canadian operators.
