The M.18 was intended by Miles to be a replacement for the very capable Magister but only four were built, of which this was the only Mark II produced. Post-war this aircraft had a successful career as a racer before joining the now defunct Strathallan Collection. Fortunately it is now on display at the National Museum of Flight, East Fortune.

The M18 was a two seat tandem trainer which first flew in 1938 as a Mark1 and this was the sole Mk2 built. This aircraft won the Goodyear Trophy in 1956 and Kings Cup Air Race in 1961. This is the sole surviving M-18 in the excellent Museum of Flight.
