The primary improvement over the Mk III was the replacement of the 965hp Bristol Pegasus engines by 1,200hp Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasps. After postwar Aeronavale service, the aircraft became badly derelict and a massive restoration effort by Duxford Aviation Society volunteers from 1976 and through the 1980s brought it back to the superb condition in which it is now on show
