Built May 1945, delivered to RAF 18 July 1945. Last flew 1952 when it was damaged during take-off at RAF Middle Wallop. Thereafter used as instructional airframe 6946M, gate guardian (at RAF Andover as such 1963/67) and showpiece at events such as the Royal Tournament and Edinburgh Military Tattoo. To St.Athan April 1968 for restoration and subsequently presented in 1972 to the City of Stoke-on-Trent in memory of Reginald Mitchell, the designer of the Spitfire. Later restored by the Medway Aircraft Preservation Society Feb.2018 - June 2021 and returned to the Stoke Potteries Museum.
