Last flight of ML824, from Brest to Pembroke Dock in Wales, following the coastline around Cornwall. Capitaine Henri Luthereau's crew received an escort of two Shackletons. The Sunderland was put on display at Pembroke Dock until moved to Hendon by road in 1971.

The Sunderland did get a prominent location in the new entrance hall of the RAF Museum.

The Sunderlands design was so good that it is one of the very few pre-WWII types to remain in service with the RAF long after the end of that conflict. The type also participated in the Berlin Airlift and the Korean War with the last examples being scrapped at Seletar in 1959. After her RAF service this particular aircraft served for four years with the Aeronavale (51-56) before being donated to the Short Sunderland Trust for preservation.

Built by Shorts in Belfast in August 1944, serving 201 Squadron RAF, wearing their 'NS' code. To France in October 1951. Now preserved at Hendon.
