Original prototype M.3 Falcon photographed at Martlesham Heath during testing. The first flight is noted as having taken place at Woodley on 12 October 1934 and H L Brook left Mildenhall for Melbourne on 20 October 1934. However, another source suggests that "U3" was test flown at Martlesham Heath in April 1934!

This is the prototype of the M.3 Falcon, developed from the M.2 Hawk. Just a week after its first flight, it started in the great London to Melbourne Air Race but despite this, there are few photos of this aircraft. Pilot Harold Brook took a month to arrive in Melbourne and did complain about the lack of attention he got. His return flight to England in 1935 was very much faster.
