The Air Navigation and Engineering Co Ltd based at Addlestone in Surrey was successor to the wartime Blériot and Spad Manufacturing Co. In 1923 their chief designer developed the ANEC I, an ultra-light monoplane that gained a generally favourable official appraisal but many deficiencies warranted the certification of an improved ANEC II, which was registered G-EBJO in 1924 and went on to be based at Old Warden until January 1935. The registration was cancelled in 1937, with the aircraft stored at Old Warden until a later restoration to flying condition took place.
