This freighter was privately-registered XB-JBR and became commercially-registered XA-JBR when transferred to the Aero JBR fleet in late 1999. It was written off after ditching in Lake Casa Blanca near Laredo airport 21 May 2002 whilst performing touch and go circuits following some maintenance work. Some accident reports incorrectly mention it as XB-JBR, but its remains were noted stored in a yard in Laredo, TX in October 2007, still in the same colours as in this photo, and still marked as XA-JBR.

I have another photo of this Convair, from 1971 when she was in service with Iberia as EC-APZ. Delivered to the Spanish flag carrier in 10.59, leased to Lineas Aereas de Guinea Ecuatorial 1972-76 and sold by Atlas Aircraft to Mexico in 1980. Last recorded as stored in poor condition at Houston-Hooks Field having reverted to the Atlas reg N829TA
