This helicopter has a fake code. It is a former German Air Force helicopter with the identification correct number '78+16'. As an exhibit for the Aeronauticum, it was repainted in the colors of the MFG5 as a SAR helicopter and given the registration code WE-543.

Formerly "AS+330", lateron became "LC+115", around 1967 it was assigned the new serial "78+16". After retirement it became Civil "D-HALC" and now it carries fake code 'WE+543'.

The German armed forces received 50 Sycamores in the late 1950s. Ten saw service with the Marineflieger.

This helicopter has had a long and varied history. Originally delivered to the GAF Lufttransportgeschwader 61 in 1958 with the serial GA119 (GA+119). After being transferred to the Navy she was allocated the serial SC+205 and then WE+543 with the newly formed MFG 5 in 1963. In 1971 she took over a fire fighting role with the Land Niedersachsen and was allocated the civilian reg. D-HEMD. She then served as a general workhorse/pleasure flight role before being rescued by the Aeronatuticum museum in 1998.
