The aircraft was retired to the MASDC "Boneyard" at Davis Monthan AFB, Tucson, in 1960. In 1974 it was acquired by the Aero American Corp., registered N87666 and re-located to Ryan Field where it remained unconverted until broken up for parts c.1982; the registration was cancelled in May 1984.

Still in its USAF markings 12 years after disposal. Never operated as a civil aircraft and its civil registration was cancelled in 1984 after it was stripped of useful parts.
